Buying a  puppy is one of the most important decisions anyone can make.  The American Polish Lowland Sheepdog Association, Inc., recognizes that buying a puppy is a  lifetime committment  of usually 10-12 or more years  and , therefore, should  NEVER be taken lightly.  As you speak to many

Polish Lowland Sheepdog breeders  they may tell you, "The PON puppy if properly trained and socialized  will become the most amazing, loving, unique dog you will ever own. There are no words to truly explain what a PON is like.  "  Yet when asked what that means, it is a question that most Polish Lowland Sheepdog breeders will answer by saying  "You have to own one to understand...there are no words to explain!"

1)  You must honestly ask yourself if you now have the time and the energy

to train and socialize a young puppy.

2)  You must do your homework...learn about the breed  by reading and
gathering as much information as you an.  You must speak to many
reputable Polish Lowland Sheepdog breedersLearn what testing of the
parent dogs should be done and check to see if it has been done.  Learn
more about OFA or Penn Hip,  CERF, and CHIC before speaking with
breeders by  clicking on the following link--

3)  Be sure to write down the information you learn from each breeder and any
concerns about the breeder or the breed.  Keep a record on all the
Polish Lowland  Sheepdog breeders you speak   to --  see below for
     My Breeder Record .

4)   You must line up a good vet  and find an obedience trainer who uses
methods which are firm, fair, consistent and positive.

5)   You must puppy proof your house and yard and get the necessary
equipment to care for a puppy.

6)   You must learn how to go about buying and training a puppy.
Do you want a breeder who will stay in touch with you should you
need help in the future?  What kinds of questions should you ask
to find good, reputable Polish Lowland Sheepdog breeders who are
willing to do that?  What  questions should you be hearing from good
Polish Lowland Sheepdog breeders so you know they really care about
the placement of their puppies?  Trust your intuition!
